Sue Selvey / Watercolorist

Born and raised in West Virginia, I came to the Charleston area by way of Amelia Island, Florida in 1990. I received a Bachelors degree from Wake Forest University and a Masters degree from West Virginia University. Prior to my retirement in 2005, I was an air traffic controller for 23 years, first in Jacksonville, Florida and then at the Charleston Airport.
I am the owner and manager of One Tempi Farm, a horse boarding and training stable in Berkeley County. I have practiced the sport of dressage for many years and trained and shown my horse Tal-Shaya to the Olympic level of Grand Prix.
I am an exhibiting member of the Goose Creek Artist Guild and currently serve as their treasurer. At the guild's annual juried art show February 2014, I was honored when Mayor Heitzler selected my painting for the city's purchase award.
I travel overseas yearly and many of my paintings are from photos taken during these trips. Primarily self-taught, I also enjoy painting rural scenes. I often try to paint from different perspectives so that the viewer is drawn into the painting in a way he/she may not have expected.
