Laura DeNino Mama Bear Art / Nursery Painter

Mama Bear Art was founded from a rediscovery of Laura’s lifelong passion for painting and design. Laura started painting as a child and continued painting through college helping fund her expenses at the University of Florida by painting murals in children’s rooms. After college, she continued to dabble in different media and design while taking courses at Parsons the New School for Design and the New York Studio School in New York City. Painting was more of a hobby than a career which changed when she became pregnant with her first baby. When decorating her little one’s nursery, she quickly discovered that there were not a lot of options for fun, fresh and modern art. After her baby was born, she found herself sketching designs during any possible free time she could find and while her baby slept, she started painting her designs on birchwood. She chose wood for the modern Scandinavian look since she wanted to incorporate her Finnish roots into her artwork. Once she got a collection of designs together, she officially launched Mama Bear Art in Charleston, SC.
Laura finds inspiration through dreaming up ideas and designs with her husband, friends and family, through nature and of course through her original inspiration and greatest blessing her daughter Ava. Her goal through Mama Bear Art is to help create welcoming atmospheres that children will remember for a lifetime.
