Daniel Diehl / Illustrator / oil painter

They say when you do what you love for a living you never work a day in your life. I'm not sure that's entirely true but since 2010 I know I have felt a whole lot better about life than the previous twenty years of working "for the man".
I've always enjoyed drawing and painting but it wasn't until 2010 that I really discovered that I had a real talent for it. All I needed was some guidance and direction. I started taking private lessons from various well known and established artists in the low country and quickly discovered my talent for realism.
I tend to be very selective about the subject I choose to incorporate into my work. I have a difficult time just drawing a vase because it looks neat. Therefore, I make my work evoke emotions and make the viewer think. If a picture is worth a thousand words, those words should tell a story. That's my perspective on art and the mantra I try to incorporate with each and every piece I create.
